Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre,
Paris is one of my favorite places to be. Montmatre holds a special place in my heart , not only was it the first place I stayed when I first visited Paris , it is also the go to neighborhood for artists poets and writers of every description. Picasso, Modigliani, Monet and Van Gogh lived and worked here, as did Émile Zola, Guillaume Apollinaire, Alexandre Dumas, Verlaine, and Louis-Ferdinand Céline. The view across the city of Paris that you get from the steps of the Sacré Cœur [it means sacred heart] is absolutely fantastic and perhaps best seen at dusk or dawn. You can climb the steps or get a cab to drop you off at the top. The neighborhood is filled with fantastic bars and restaurants, that offer some of the best French food you will ever taste. I haven’t yet written a book about Paris, although I hope to remedy that one day soon, so I would reccomend you read Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway and The Autobiography of Alice B. Tocklas by Gertrude Stein, both of which feature Paris extensively.
